The Division covers approximately 93 square kilometres, and includes the suburbs of Malvern East, Ashwood/ Ashburton, Glen Iris, Chadstone, Mt Waverley, Glen Waverley/ Wheelers Hill, Oakleigh/Huntingdale/Hughesdale, Clayton, Mulgrave and Monash University.

Greater South Eastern Division of General Practice (GSED) is a local GP organisation that provides services and a focal point to help General Practitioners and General Practice to work better.

GSED is located in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne, approximately 20 kilometres from the Melbourne Central Business District. It is situated around the geographic area of the City of Monash and parts of the City of Stonnington and Boroondara. The City of Monash is currently the second largest LGA, in terms of population, in Melbourne.Other Meetings at Forum
GSED represents 107 financial members within and the City of Monash, Stonnington and Boroondara. The Division first started operating in October 1993. In early 1994 an office administrator and receptionist were hired to start informing and recruiting General Practitioners into Divisions of General Practice.
- Paper PresentationsGSED has always considered it a priority to maintain office accommodation independent from other health service providers. In 1995, its activities and projects had grown and required further staff, and consequently larger premises were required. GSED's current location is within the same corporate building at Chester St. Oakleigh. The office is an open plan setting, allowing good communication throughout the office.
GSED liaises with a wide variety of stakeholders, including Commonwealth and State government, non-government organisations, local councils, a broad range of Health Service Providers and related organisations. Forum 2005
The Division initiated the Southern Metropolitan Region Divisions of General Practice (SMRDGP), which is a strategic alliance of seven Divisions of General Practice that neatly fall into a State based region. The SMRDGP meet quarterly to discuss local issues and strategies, liaise with DHS, and Southern Hospital Network, and also to combine forces on various projects for economy of scale. From this, South Eastern Divisions Group (SEDG) was developed. This group of four Divisions liaise on a regular basis with the Southern HealthCare Network (SHCN). SEDG was instrumental in setting up the General Practice Resource Unit (GPRU), for which funding was later granted by the SHCN.
Introduction to 'Palliative Care' for GP's: first trailed in November 1999 by GSED in conjunction with Eastern Palliative Care. The evaluation was extremely positive and the weekend residential format was very successful. VMPF (Victorian Medical Postgraduate Foundation Inc) have since updated the course which has recently been offered to all GP's in Victoria.
- Divisions Achievement AwardsIn 1999, GSED approached Monash University General Practice Psychiatry Unit to devise a Mental Health Education Program suitable for GPs. The Program, developed by Monash University General Practice Psychiatry Unit, was conducted over five sessions, with a positive response from the GPs who attended. Since then we have conducted ten further sessions. As a result of the program, it has become a funded program providing 255 training places to GPs across five Divisions in South Eastern Metropolitan Melbourne.
In 2002 GSED won the Victorian Public Health Award for Excellence and Innovation. It won this for developing an Educational Resource for GPs, in conjunction with the Melbourne DGP, to help in the early identification and treatment of problem gamblers. The resource, which included a CD and a booklet, was so popular that it was delivered to every GP in Victoria.

Australian General Practice Network (AGPN) is the new name of the Australian Divisions of General Practice (ADGP) which was established in 1998 as the peak national body representing 119 divisions of general practice and their state-based organisations across Australia. We are the largest voice for general practice in Australia with over 95 per cent of Australia's GPs members of their local division. The Network delivers local heath solutions through general practice. Our activities cover a broad range of primary health care issues in the program areas below:
