How will it work?
The implementation strategy.
Using data provided through Medicare Australia, drug-prescribing information will be assessed against known pharmaceuticals, their efficacy, their costs and changed prescribing identified. Education will be developed at the central office, adapted by a central process for each Division and provided to GPs, with efficacy as the first priority. Feedback will also be provided on the value for money achieved by various treatment approaches. Where a group of GPs are able to demonstrate savings against agreed baseline data, those savings will be returned through ERM to that participating Division for investment in primary healthcare against an agreed set of parameters.
