Toolkit
About the kit
This toolkit is designed to assist Divisions in undertaking community engagement and participation processes across all phases of Divisions business.
As Sth TAS DGP's states, "There is a richness of wisdom and experience within the Divisions network. It is rarely necessary to 're-invent the wheel' ".
Intended users
The toolkit is designed specifically to assist Division of General Practice staff in implementing effective community engagement techniques.
Engagement techniques
The following tools contain information on traditional and innovative methods of consultation (or engagement) including a brief description of the techniques, notes on applicability, skills required, an outline of how the process usually works, strengths and weaknesses and Division specific case examples and templates where available.
One of the key elements of using the toolkit is recognizing that techniques need to be chosen carefully to fit a particular issue and/or stakeholders. In many situations, a combination of a number of different tools may be required to involve your targeted 'communities of interest'.
The tools are listed in alphabetical order. This toolkit is not a complete overview of all Community Engagement techniques, but rather is meant to act as an initial guide. The descriptions of the profiled techniques have been adapted from the website - https://www3.secure.griffith.edu.au/03/toolbox/. Additional techniques can be found on the subpage Additional Community Engagement Resources section.
