Involving Parents
Parents usually seek transparency in activities and an opportunity to comment on activities undertaken within the school context. For most, the availability of written materials on why referral pathways are useful, parent's role in it and which pathways are used at the school is sufficient.
The opportunity to attend information sessions that provide an opportunity to meet health professionals that are assisting in the implementation of the pathway is also important. You may also consider whether parent representation of your advisory group would be useful.
You need to make an assessment with the school on the level of parent engagement early on and implement a plan that provides access to information and key people for those that seek it.
