The care of older Australians has been a significant issue for the Australian Government, research bodies, the aged care sector, general practice community and others for some time.  The number of older persons living in the community and residential facilities is increasing.  This trend is likely to continue as baby boomers age and improvements in health care continue to have a positive effect on both quality and quantity of life.
