Professional Development

The Professional Development program includes, GP Continuing Medical Education, GP education on practice management, GP education and working with other stakeholders (in conjunction with the Alliance of NSW Divisions) on Enhance Primary Care, GP education on mental health, and Joint GP education on antenatal/postnatal care with local hospital.

GP Representation

The GP representation program includes; public information sessions and promotions, media involvement, consumer advisory group, GPs are involved in Area Health Service and other relevant committees, regular executive meetings between Division and AHS, a newsletter, joint projects with AHS on mental health, and the development of formal antenatal shared care protocols.

Immunisation

The Immunisation program is designed to provide practice visits for cold chain and ACIR, to provide education and other materials to GPs, the monitoring of GPs fridges, to liaise with local, state and national players, to develop and distribute parent information, and to conduct a youth health clinic.

Youth health

The Youth Health program is involved with training GPs in youth health issues, conducting peer support groups for young people in specific situation such as pregnancy, the Division's GPs are involved in youth health clinics, and are present at local schools. The Division also aims to provide urgent medications to young people on a voucher system, and to work with the local hospitals and other stakeholders to develop more effective services.

Lifestyle

The Lifestle program includes having a Lifestyle educator who visits GP patients in their surgeries to provide lifestyle related information and monitor lifestyle related behaviours or conditions, provides feedback to GPs, and educates GPs so they can better manage patients. The lifestyle program also includes a GP clinical audit, and provides blood pressure monitoring service to GPs patients.

Information Technology and Information Management

The Information technology and Information management (IM/IT) program currently evaluates software and hardware options, provides training for GPs, as well as technical support for GPs and practices. The Division also hold a local computer expo for GP,  and liases with other stakeholders for the establishment of a complete electronic communications model.
