Women and Infant health :
Antenatal Shared care
We provide ongoing training for GPs interested in providing antenatal care and fosters cross contact between midwives, GPs , consumers and allied health professionals.
We offer clinical tutorials and field activities as well as ongoing support.
Postnatal care
The program aims to provide practical training in the care of infants, also hoping to enhance GP skills.
Families First
This project aims to improve and better co-ordinate early intervention strategies for families defined as needing extra support. Improving communication betwen GPs and other agencies.
Practice Computerisation
This project promotes Information Management (IM) by GPs in all aspects of their practice ( clinical, practice management, communications) We have a computer laboratory and we do practice visits!
Home Medicines Reviews
We have a HMR Facilitator who provides GPs and practice staff with information and support about the HMR process through practice visits, phone calls, newsletters and educational sessions
Nursing in general practice
More and more local practices (55 at last count) are employing practice nurses. We can help answer all the frequently asked questions - when to employ, how to employ, position descriptions and so on.
We even provide GP nurse training!
Mental Health Partnership
By providing an avenue for improved communication between GPs and local mental health services, this project enhances mental health care of patients.
This project offers the following resources - mental health website, case conferencing, information kit, Better Outcomes in Mental Health program support.
Drug and Alcohol
Drug and alcohol activities include collaborations with CSAHS Drug and Alcohol Unit, a CPD program and many online and physical resources for interested GPs.
Risk management and Accreditation
We provide a comprehensive risk management assessment service to local practices, and assists practices that are reaccrediting or accrediting for the first time.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Privacy and confidentiality compliance issues are increasingly relevant to Australian general practice. We have model privacy policies, and can assist practices to put policies and procedures in place to protect staff, patients and doctors.
Practice incentives payments
The PIP aims to compensate for the limitations of fee-for-service arrangements. The incentives seek to focus on aspects of general practice that contribute to quality care
Preventative Health
We have an excellent recall remind manual and resources and support for setting up immunisation, cervical screening, and diabetes and macrovascular disease prevention systems in general practice
MBS EPC items
Many practices have found it difficult to make good use of these new items. We have an excellent collection of templates, easy to use guidelines and provides sensible advice on incorporating these items into day to day practice
NPS
The NPS project provides independent information on best practice in prescribing medications. By participating in NPS activities, GPs have an opportunity to attain extra PIP payments.
