General Practice Queensland (formerly Queensland Divisions of General Practice)is a state-based organisation uniquely positioned at the interface of the Federal and State Health systems.
Established in 1997, GPQ aims to strengthen the health care system through advancing and supporting the primary role of Divisions of General Practice and by ensuring that key stakeholders and General Practice work together.
GPQ aims to inform and influence primary health care reform in Queensland through collective debate and discussion on contemporary policy issues.
Together with its members, GPQ is focused on building stronger linkages and partnerships across the Queensland primary health care sector that deliver improved care for the Queensland Community.
Division Overview:
The stategic directions for GPQ have evolved from the successes, challenges and lessons learnt since the establishment of QDGP in 1997:
- To develop, strengthen and better utilize State-level linkages and partnerships that support positive health-system change.
- To provide leadership, support and resources to Queensland Divisions of General Practice that add value, build capacity and strengthen the network.
- To build and support the Divisional network at local, state and national levels.
- To ensure strong, accountable governance, efficient and effective management and a skilled and satisfied workforce.
