The Murray-Plains Division of General Practice has over the years increased its staff numbers fairly rapidly. We currently employ five full-time staff and six part-time staff. The Division covers a geographical area reaching about 22,000 square kilometres, over the two states of Victoria and New South Wales, most of our members being in Victoria and covers nine local government areas, with a population of 70,000.

Mission statement: "The Murray Plains Division of General Practice was formed to enhance the health care of the communities within the Division".

Division goals:

  • Marshal and augment the knowledge, experience and skills of the rural general practitioners;
  • Support general practice throughout the division;
  • Use its influence at all levels of government to ensure that GPs are the leaders of the primary care team; and
  • Support general practice collaboration with other health care providers.
