Eastern Ranges GP Association (ERGPA) supports 59 General Practices and has almost 200 active members. ERGPA is at the forefront of innovation, service delivery and support for its members and practices.

Demographics:

Eastern Ranges GP Association services GPs and general practices in the Shires of Yarra Ranges, Cardinia and Murrindindi, and the Cities of Maroondah, Casey and Manningham.

With an office located in Lilydale, the Division's staff work with practices located across Lilydale, Croydon, Mooroolbark, Kilsyth, the Dandenong Ranges, Beaconsfield, Pakenham and the Yarra Valley.

The Division's catchment area contains some of Victoria's most environmentally significant areas. Past and present industries include farming, forestry, timber, viticulture and floriculture.

GP members of the Division care for a population of over 215,000. The population can be characterised as a 'young' population, with a higher than average population aged between 0-17 years, and a lower than average proportion of residents aged 60 years and over.

  • The average age of GP members of the Association is 51 years
  • Population growth within the Division is constant (currently about 215,000), but the population density is significantly lower than most metropolitan fringe municipalities. In Healesville, Yarra Glen and the Warburton Hwy the population density is as low as 17 people per km2
  • Areas along the Princes Highway, such as Pakenham, Berwick and Beaconsfield are considered to be significant 'growth corridors', with large numbers of young families moving into the area over the next 10 years
  • There is a significant burden of high socio economic disadvantage in particular in areas such as Healesville, Yarra Glen, Wandin, Yarra Junction and Warburton
  • The Division contains a significant and active Aboriginal population
  • The vast majority of the Division is classified as RRMA 1 - Capital City, for RWAV purposes. Areas of the Upper Yarra Valley, however, are classified RRMA 5. Rural towns include Healesville, Warburton, Marysville, Yarra Junction, Woori Yallock. Some practices within the Division boundaries are eligible for outer metropolitan incentive payments.
