Monash Division is committed to improve the quality of patient care by encouraging GPs to work together and link with other health professionals to promote the integration of General Practice into the wider community. The Division offices are sited at Monash House, on the campus of Monash Medical Centre, Moorabbin. Monash Division has established strong links with the Southern Health Care Network, the hospitals at both the Moorabbin and Clayton campuses of Monash Medical Centre and the Community health centres in Springvale and East Bentleigh.
The Division also liaises with a large range of community groups and services in the surrounding area and three local government councils. The Division area is serviced by a large number of consumer groups and the Division currently has strong links with aged care support networks and refugee health networks. The Division has also participated in the Steering Committees for the Municipal Health Plans for the City of Greater Dandenong and the City of Kingston, and was consulted during the development of the plan for the City of Glen Eira. As a result of these plans, working groups have been established to examine particular issues and to work together on key projects. Participating in these groups allows the Division to influence policy matters within other key organisations so that the role of the GP is promoted, with resultant improvement in quality of patient care, and integration and improved access to health services.
The Division's prime concern is to have an impact on the every day practice of medicine as carried out by the great majority of General Practitioners. This approach allows the Division to provide support for members under three strategic programs: Practice Support, Clinical Support and GP Integration.
