Bankstown GP Division is an incorporated Association and complies with the reporting rules for Associations set down by the NSW Department of Fair Trading. The Division has a 10 GP member Management Committee which develops policy, programs and projects and eight staff members, including an Executive Officer and Financial Manager, whom administer the Division on a day-to-day basis.
Division has designed and managed several successful projects since its inception in 1992. Our key projects are Ambulatory Care/GP Home Care, Antenatal Shared Care, Diabetes Shared Care, Cardiac Recall program and Mental Health Shared Care.
The Division is recognised for its expertise in program management and innovative approaches to programs, which support the continued development of the role of General Practice in enhancing primary care. Stakeholders include; GP members, consumers, Area and Sector Health Services.
MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

Division and Hospital Agreement in place and renewed annually which brings both parties to work together to support the health of our local community.

Computer training Program for GPs, which has seen 45 GPs go through basic introduction to computers and over 90 GPs have completed introductory or advanced sessions in medical software.

Development of joint projects with other Divisions ie Mental Health Seminar and Workshop Program with Liverpool Division.

Development of support services to GP members up taking the accreditation process.

Long term, outstanding Continuing Medical Education which attracts members from other Divisions.

Successful Shared Care Projects including the first Ambulatory Care Project involving GPs now providing the base for another innovation called Shared Care In Medicine.

Innovative approaches to sponsorship including an annual sponsors luncheon at which we launch the next year?s program and thank our sponsors for support.

CHALLENGES FOR THE FUTURE

Consolidate previous achievements, together with a commitment to unfinished activities and new initiatives.

Ensure the Plan works towards the goals set by the Strategic Plan - the Division will make the hard decisions to defer or postpone projects which are not in line with the Strategic Plan.

Review performance with realistic indicators to assess our progress and to make best use of resources.
