Implementation Workshop
The Centre for General Practice Integration Studies in collaboration with the Australian Divisions of General Practice hosted an Implementation Workshop for State Based Organisations (SBOs) and some Division of General Practice representatives on 25 and 26 August 2005 in Melbourne. The workshop aim was to assist SBOs in developing State and Territory plans for implementing the Lifescripts tools and resources.
The program for the workshop provided an orientation to the Lifescripts resources and the opportunity to use the resources to respond to a range of Practice Scenarios and Division Scenarios. SBOs also used the workshop as an opportunity to develop strategies for implementing the Lifescripts resources and to discuss some modest methods for documenting the uptake of Lifescripts.
Mr Gawaine Powell-Davis of the Centre for General Practice Integration Studies discussed a range of issues relating to risk factor management including the experience from the SNAP trial and the Practice Capacity research.
Dr Nancy Huang of Kinect Australia (formerly Vicfit) gave a presentation to overview the initiative. Dr Huang discussed the background to Lifescripts, the role of the consortium that developed the resources and a rationale for each of the five risk factors.
Ms Hilary Metcalf of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing presented an overview of the Governments' strategic focus including related programs and activities and future directions.
Dr Huang discussed the elements of the Practice Manual and Resources for Practices to familiarise the group with these resources. This was particularly useful for discussing how the practices in the practice scenarios could be involved in implementing the Lifescripts tools and resources.
Mr Tony Stubbs from the NSW Division of the National Heart Foundation discussed the elements of the Divisions Manual to familiarise the group with this resource. Discussion of a range of division scenarios then gave participants the opportunity to use the Divisions Manual to discuss how Lifescripts might be implemented in a range of Divisions.
Ms Megan Hansford of the Australian Divisions of General Practice gave an overview of the implementation framework for the Divisions Network including the role of ADGP and SBOs, opportunities for capacity building and key points for effective implementation.
