Building Primary Mental Health Care Capacity Seminar - The Future for Better Outcomes
25th August 2004
By: ADGP

This seminar will focus on the significant achievements by Divisions of General Practice in primary mental health care reform, particularly through their role in the Better Outcomes in Mental Health Care Initiative.  It will provide the opportunity for Divisions and other stakeholders involved in the Initiative to share their positive and negative experiences and to contribute to future directions for the Initiative.

The formal part of the seminar will begin with presentations from key people involved in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Initiative.  This will include Divisional case studies.  This will be followed by the launch of a Better Outcomes futures Position Statement.  The Statement will be discussed by an expert panel, including members of the Better Outcomes Implementation Advisory Group (BOIAG).  Seminar participants will be able to give direct feedback to BOIAG and help refine the Statement.

Among the highlights planned this year are the pre-Forum Program Seminars commencing on Thursday 23 September from 1.00-5.00pm. These seminars are open to all Forum delegates.

Guest Speakers include: Professor Jeff Richard, Dept of General Practice, Monash University; and Dr Jane Pirkis, Centre for Health Program Evaluation, University of Melbourne
