Evaluators Engaged for Better Outcomes in Mental Health Care Initiative
7th July 2004
By: ADGP
The Department of Health and Ageing has engaged Health Care Management Advisors, an Adelaide based consultancy, to evaluate the Better Outcomes in Mental Health Care Initiative.
The consultants are required to establish the effectiveness, appropriateness and efficiency of the components of the Initiative. Their methodology includes stakeholder consultation with key national and state organisations involved in the Initiative (principally members of the Better Outcomes Implementation Advisory Group); analysis of HIC and program administration data; and detailed examination of the Better Outcomes Service delivery in ten case study sites, which will include surveys of GPs and psychiatrists, and local consultations with Divisional staff, service providers and consumers.
The evaluation commenced in early July and is due to report in early September.
ADGP will be included as part of the stakeholder consultation and will be co-ordinating a.Network-wide submission. The consultants are also willing to accept input from individual Divisions directly. An overview of the evaluation is available below. There are five specific areas on which Divisional input is sought. They are set out on page 8. All input must be lodged by Friday 13 August.
