Programs and Projects

CURRENT PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS

The Redcliffe - Bribie - Caboolture Division of General Practice is conducting programs in four domains: Quality, Integration, Partnerships and Infrastructure. The initial goal is to build capacity in the Division. This will be achieved through the adoption of computerisation and the accreditation of the Division's practices.

Quality Program

Quality is being addressed through the promotion of Accreditation, Continuing medical Education (CME), workforce issues and inter-practice visits. The Division is collaborating with the NPS to conduct a quality use of medicines project. This will target quality prescribing through academic detailing, educational groups and practice audits.

Partnerships Program

The Division is actively building relationships with the other health sector players in the district. This is delivering joint submissions for project funding proposals. Immunisation fits in here and the Division is contributing to the significant increase in the immunisation rates in the area. EPC will be addressed in the new year. The Division's plans are designed to integrate with those of QDGP to gain any available synergies.

Integration Program

Central to issues of integration is the achievement of a "wired" Division Communication between the practitioners, and the Division will take on a dynamic dimension when this is realised. Better preparation of the practice staff and provision of more training is seen as an important mechanism to overcome some of the barriers which have been identified amongst the early adopters.

Infrastructure Program

To enable the Division to stay relevant and better serve the public through General Practice greater investment will be made in ensuring continuous quality improvement. Staff training and development is seen as an essential commitment of the Division. This will be complimented by appropriate information management and technology.
