Programs and Projects
Immunisation
The aim of this program is to increase immunisation rates through the production and distribution of a video and TV ads to dispel myths about immunisation, and to encourage parents and carers of children to immunise children. Since the launch of the video rates have increased.
Quality Use of Medicines
The main aim of the program is to improve compliance. The Division in cooperation with pharmacists aims to promote compliance by patients with chronic illness through the use of Nomads cassettes (similar to Webster blister packs). Anecdotal evidence indicates it has been successful in many of the patients using the scheme in reducing hospitalisation admissions caused by noncompliance with medications. The Division provides a supply of Nomads packs.
Integration and Liaison of Health Care Services
The aim of program is to improve integration and liaison with other health care stakeholders by planning and coordination. Achievements of the program include membership of Far West Aboriginal Health Forum, membership of Upper Western Sector GP Services Planning committee, and involvement with University of Sydney Department of Rural Health, Broken Hill. The Division feels that they need to ensure that focus is on improving patient/population health outcomes
