The Western Australian Centre for Remote and Rural Medicine (WACRRM) is a rural medical workforce agency, with responsibility for the attraction, recruitment, retention and support of doctors in remote and rural Western Australia. Its main funding sources are the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing and the Western Australian Department of Health.
WACRRM�s major stakeholders are the rural GPs. Others include: Rural Divisions of General Practice; Rural Doctors� Association of WA, State and Commonwealth governments, the University of WA, ACRRM, RACGP, AMA, medical students, rural GP trainees and rural and remote communities.
- To achieve its aims, WACRRM has developed programs in several key areas including:
- Recruitment of doctors to the Western Australian rural medical workforce
- Retention and support of the rural medical workforce
- Attraction of students to rural medicine
- Research and data collection
