  Stream 1
  Stream 2

Stream 2

Stream 2

Experts will be commissioned to explore the needs of general practice in working with young people with substance use and mental health issues and to develop supplementary education and training resources for the primary care setting, focused on the coordination of care and the management of mental health and substance use amoung young people.  These resources will be developed in consulation with the Youth Mental Health Foundation and the Divisions Network.

Expected outcomes

By the end of the two year initiative, it is anticipated that:

  • general practice will be better equipped to identify, treat and support service users with mental health, substance use and other complex vulnerabilities
  • there will be improved synergy between the needs of service users and the support and treatment made available through the general practice setting
  • the needs of young people presenting with mental health and substance use issues will be recognised and effectively managed.
