Palliative Care Programs
What is Palliative Care? The World Health Organisation defines palliative care as: "An approach that improves the quality of life of individuals and their families facing the problem associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual."
Palliative care is not limited to individuals with cancers but rather anyone with a condition that has a terminal phase or is progressive in nature.
There has been incredible focus on palliative care in recent years. Best practice guidelines have been developed and it has become a speciality area in its own right.
