After Hours Care in ACHs
AGPN acknowledges the financial support of the Medical care for residents of aged care homes has historically been provided, and in many circumstances is still provided, by the family GP.
Australian Government.
However, changes in society and the health system have resulted in reduced support for and uptake by GPs providing this necessary service.
Research is indicating that medical care is increasingly being provided by Medical Deputising Services (MDS) (where these exist) and reliance on hospital admittance.
