Building on overseas experience. The proposed program is the synthesis of our learning from Australian and New Zealand in particular, but it is also informed by experience in referred services management in England and the USA.  This work builds on the efforts undertaken by Divisions in areas such as quality use of medicines and EDQUM and by NZ IPAs in the various programs managed for referred services and pharmacy programs.  It is based on successful clinical change management experience from around the world. The program will operate with the following characteristics:
  

  $45,000 to $50,000 (commensurate with skills and qualifications)

Position Description:

Provide administrative support to the Rural Australia Palliative Care Partnerships Program

Key Responsibilities:

  • Secretarial support to the Rural Australia Palliative Care Reference Group
  • Liaison with the Consultant to the Rural Australia Palliative Care Partnerships Program
  • Undertake research activities
  • Maintain communication strategies implemented to support the Program
  • Support the development of resource materials
  • Project management, including liaison with the Consultant and successful applicants to ensure all reporting timelines are met
  • Coordinate program reporting to ensure timelines are met.
  • Maintain database and filing systems.
  • Monitor budget expenditure and ensure payments are made in accordance with the conditions of program contracts.
  • Support the promotion and maintenance of program linkages with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide other support as required.

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification and/or experience in project management
  • Knowledge of and experience in office systems including information and correspondence management and filing and payments within strict company guidelines
  • Experience in a secretariat support role at a high level
  • High level of organisational skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • High standard of oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a small team
  • Ability to take initiative, exercise judgement and work with limited supervision
  • High level of computer skills, including extensive experience using word-processing packages and spreadsheets and databases in a PC environment
  • Experience in website development and maintenance

Term of employment

  • Full-time until September 30, 2003.  Position will be reviewed in September, with the opportunity for renewal based on funding, and successful performance review.
