Residential Medication Management Review (RMMR 903)
Collaborative RMMR.
Many of you may be aware that the Government Department of Health and Ageing have been reviewing arrangements for the provision of Residential Medication Management Review (RMMR) services. A new collaborative model including both GPs and Pharmacists will be introduced from 1 July 2005. Until then the payment structure for pharmacists will not change. All providers of RMMR services should have received a letter informing them of the changes to the RMMR.
From 1 November 2004 a GP initiated RMMR; MBS Item No. 903 was introduced. It is anticipated that the introduction of the GP initiated RMMR will encourage GPs to provide services to residential aged care facilities. The RMMR is complimentary to the recently introduced MBS Item number 712, Comprehensive Medical Assessment (CMA).
The introduction of MBS Item number 903 will impact on Aged Care GP Panels Coordinators and HMR Coordinators. A.26.11 RMMR complements other Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) items for services that a medical practitioner can provide to residents including: * normal consultations; * EPC items for contributing to a care plan and for case conferencing; and * Comprehensive Medical Assessments. ADGP will be working on a proforma for the GP component of the RMMR for dissemination under the CPC suite of templates.
