Report on the GP Access to Broadband Technology Survey
GP Access to Broadband Technology - The Current State of Play is an analysis of the results from the GP Access to Broadband Technology Survey, which was conduced in late 2003 by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing, to learn about computer usage in practices located in rural and remote areas, and to inform the development of an implementation strategy for the Access to Broadband Technology Initiative.
The GP Access to Broadband Technology Survey was carried out with the assistance of the Australian Divisions of General Practice (ADGP), forty Divisions of General Practice, and Digital Business insights, an independent publishing and research company that conducts ongoing research into the use and benefit of digital technology to small to medium sized enterprises.
GP Access to Broadband Technology - The Current State of Play was prepared by Digital Business insights, based on the data collected from six hundred and fifty-five practices nationwide. The report provides an interesting insight into how practices in rural and remote Australia are currently using computers on a day-to-day basis, and how they might use them in the delivery of clinical services, if connected to broadband.
The Access to Broadband Technology Taskforce within the Department of Health and Ageing would like to thank the ADGP and the Divisions of General Practices for their invaluable assistance in the survey, and general practices for their participation.
The Taskforce looks forward to continued collaboration in the rollout of the Access to Broadband Technology Initiative.
