What is the Review Implementation Committee?

The Review Implementation Committee (RIC) is a representative group drawn from the Divisions network and the wider primary care system.

RIC was established by the Department of Health & Ageing in July 2004 to provide advice and to guide the implementation of the range of strategies identified in the government's response to the 2003 Review of the Role of Divisions of General Practice.

The Division's Network representatives are happy to take feedback on the papers and topics being addressed by the RIC. The Divisions Network representatives include:

Divisions Representatives
Dr Margaret Culpan, Chair North and West Queensland Primary Health Care
Mr Andrew Waters, Executive Officer, Kimberley Division of General Practice.

SBO Representative
Mr Bill Newton, Chief Executive Officer, General Practice Divisions Victoria;

ADGP Representatives
Dr Rob Walters, Chair
Ms Kate Carnell, CEO.

The Committee met for the first time in August 2004 and will meet every 6-8 weeks until the majority of strategies are in place or significantly developed.  Information about the work of the Committee including terms of reference, workplan and communiques issued by the Committee following each meeting, is available on the Department's website.

In addition, Divisions and the broader primary care sector will have the opportunity to provide comments for consideration by the Committee. RIC may also undertake targeted formal consultation and communication where this is identified as being appropriate to specific elements of its work.
