REVIEW OF APPROVAL STATUS FOR THE PROVISION OF HOME MEDICINES REVIEW SERVICES

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia has negotiated with the Department of Health and Ageing to waive the 2 year review of the HMR Approved Service Provider status.

The Guild recently received confirmation from the Department of Health and Ageing that, due to the increasing numbers of accredited pharmacists and QCPP accredited pharmacies combined with the virtual completion of the facilitator network, approval for all existing eligible HMR service providers has been extended from 30 June 2003 to 30 June 2005.  The Medicare Australia has advised that references to the current approval of service providers being valid until 30 June 2003 have been deleted from all its correspondence.

This information should be forwarded by State and Divisional Facilitators to their community pharmacies.
